Jordan: Training Sessions in Marketing of Surplus Vegetable Produce

Objective/purpose of the facilitation services:

Under an ELCA Funded Livelihoods project, LWF aims to increase households’ food security through dietary diversity and the introduction of micro-nutrient rich foods through innovative home-based vegetable production systems.

After providing technical and material support for 150 vulnerable households to set up and manage their home-based vegetable production systems, LWF will facilitate a training in order for its beneficiaries to to acquire skills and knowledge on how to market their surplus produce.

Brief Description of LWF

The Lutheran World Federation, in response to the Syrian refugee crisis, established operations in Jordan in 2012. The Lutheran World Federation is assisting refugees and vulnerable groups in Amman, Zarqa, Irbid, Mafraq and Za’atari camp. The Lutheran World Federation is running projects related to Education, WASH, Livelihoods, Protection, Rehabilitation and Humanitarian Assistance.

Expectations of the LWF trainer:

Design and facilitate a 1-day training for 7 groups of 20-25 people (150 beneficiaries and 7 days of training in total) covering the following topics:

  • Basic financial literacy

  • Record keeping

  • Business planning

  • Marketing

Skills and Experience

LWF Jordan is looking for a trainer with the following skills and experience:

· Previous experience in designing and facilitating trainings on related subject;

· Demonstrate understanding of working with vulnerable trainees, ability to respect the participants’ culture and beliefs and the ability to treat them all equally;

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Self-directed and able to take initiative;
  • Commitment to LWF policies on promoting gender equality and diversity in the interests of marginalized people;

· Arabic (Native).

In this position, you are expected to:

· Focus on reaching results while ensuring an efficient process.

· Involve relevant parties and encourage feedback.

· Take ownership and initiative while aiming for innovation.

· Listen and speak effectively and honestly.

· Act in line with LWF vision and values.

Performance indicators:

Facilitator performance will be evaluated against the following criteria: timeliness of the deliverable, clarity of presentations, responsibility, initiative, communication, and quality of the products delivered.
